Second official visit to the USA
His Excellency Dr. Tarek Kamel - Minister of Communications and Information Technology is having his second visit to the United States of America from 19th to 24th June 2006
The aim of the visit is to capitalize the successful outcomes of our first visit in June 2005 to emphasize the developments in the Egyptian ICT sector and to create further awareness on investment climate and opportunities in the sector.
The visit seeks to reinforce the cooperation between both the public and private sector in Egypt and USA.
We are holding several networking events and activities during the visit in cooperation with different parties. These include:

1- Washington D.C.:
  • NVTC Event: Monday, 19June 2006 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm
    • North Virginia Technology Council and General Dynamics (USAID Egypt) will organize an event for awareness and networking between US and Egyptian companies. The invitees will be the entire members of NVTC - about 1,200 companies- along with some key companies, large Multinational and VIPs suggested by MCIT. The agenda of the event includes a welcoming note by Mr. Bobbie Kilberg, President of NVTC, keynote by H. E. Dr. Tarek Kamel along with two keynotes from the Government and a Corporate Representative doing business in Egypt.
  • FCC Roundtable Tuesday, 20 June 2006 from 10:00 am- 12:00 pm
    • NTRA in cooperation with FCC is organizing a Roundtable to discuss "the convergence between ICT and Media". The roundtable aims at increasing awareness and exchanging experiences between Egyptian and US experts in this regard.
  • Lunch co organized by the Egyptian embassy and the National Arab Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, 20 June 2006 from 12:30 am-2:00 pm
  • Congressmen meetings:
    • The Ministry is planning to hold meetings with members of Congress. Meetings and agendas are to be confirmed.
2- New York & New Jersy:
  • AmCham Lunch Thursday, 22 June 2006: 12:00 - 02:00 pm
    • AmCham is planning to organize a business luncheon and networking event in New York. The event will be similar to the successful event the Amcham organized last year in Washington D.C. in June 2005. The event will include invitees from ICT companies, financial institutions, and other prominent invitees. Dr. Tarek Kamel will give a keynote in the event, which will also include keynotes from Key corporate representatives.
  • Expatriates Event New Jersey, Saturday, 24 June 2006 from 8:30 - to 3:30 pm
MCIT is continuing its activities to encourage collaboration of Egyptian expatriates working in the ICT sector in North America in different projects and programs that are conducted by the public and private sector in Egypt. The event will highlight the developments in the Egyptian ICT sector aand will focus on deregulation in telecommunications and international services, R&D Centers of Excellence and Nile University. The event will also present success stories for expatriates who managed to create successful partnerships in Egypt.
